My Bio
Hi, I'm an environmental scientist who sometimes, occasionally, does a little art. I did considerably more when I was in high school. Throughout college and grad school, I stopped because I was so busy.
Things I love lots: cats, giraffes, echidnas, koalas, leafy & weedy sea dragons, all sea turtles, soft corals, penguins, redwoods, eucalypts (when they keep themselves in Australia), Reinhardtia gracilis, most mangroves, kaori pine, all octopuses (except blue-ringed which scare the shit out of me), mantas, and probably anything else you show me.
Things I dislike: cane toads, bullfrogs, Astrocaryum mexicanum, and Trichodesmium.
In my free time I enjoy drawing & painting, baking, hugging cute animals, scuba diving, and communing with sea turtles. My ultimate goal in life is to befriend / hug a cute animal on each continent. I've gotten Africa (giraffe), North America (baby cougar), and Australia (koala) down.
I am crazy squeamish and terrified of botflies and Lady Gaga's sunglasses at the beginning of Bad Romance.

I'm procrastinating and I realized that my last journal update said I was going off to Australia. Been there, done that--it was incredible. Met some of the best people of my life and saw wonderful things. Hiked through rainforests, watched sunrise in a rainforest and sunset over the outback, hugged a koala, saw a cassowary, went scuba diving (found Nemo!), had a little adventure while trying to scuba dive, went to a show at the Sydney Opera House, and all that jazz.
Now I just need to slug through final papers and exams and then I'm off to Mexico for ten days to do research in the rainforest there. Life is good, :)

Don't really have anything to say, except that I wanted to bump the old entry off.
I'm in California for the summer (taking classes--molecular biology/biochemistry and statistics), but I'm mostly just hanging out with friends and not working so much. The weather at Stanford is pretty sublime (as is the company), so it's hard to complain.
August 17th, I'm returning to D.C. for a month, where I'll either have a one-month internship or chill with friends for a month. After that (September 20th), I'm taking off for Australia, where I'll be until December 14th.
Super excited for life, :)

Perhaps when I get home from uni for a break, I'll scan and upload some of the many figure drawings I did this summer (also, I have some stuff from summer 2007 that should probably be uploaded too). Most of my art these days consists of random doodles on my school work, and isn't worth collecting and scanning.
I'm sort of don't draw that much cartoony liony stuff anymore but if I do, I will be sure to post it here.
